MEGALOPOLITAN

A poly phonic, poetic performance.  A melodic, electronic madrigal about a Metropolis. A celebrative collaboration between a composer and a playwright.

A poetic narrator born out of the city’s fluorescent centre takes you on a journey through the City. A hoarder frees her soul. A nun is having trouble with her shadow. A mystical yoga teacher helps you see yourself as you really are. An internet troll battles her compulsion.

Using spoken word, shadow puppetry, a live soundscape score and projection MEGALOPOLITAN explores enlightenment and information overload in our LED illuminated world, whilst questioning the condition of the collective consciousness.

Luminary Theatre Artistic Director Karis Halsall and celebrated experimental musician and electronic producer Samuel Organ (of The Physics House Band / Mount Bank) developed the project through experimentation, cross art-form collaboration, and a blending of the devising process with the writing process.
